Data Quality Engineer - ALFRED DevOps - NN

Location: The Hague

You will manage the complete testing cycles across all initiatives included in the ALFRED roadmaps.

As Group Finance & Reporting we are building our own “Sagrada Familia”: our data platform ALFRED, which will be the single source of truth for all Finance and Risk data. ALFRED will be the pillar under our ambitious Finance and Risk roadmap for the coming years and key in our road towards a digitalised Finance organization.

As of 2023, we will be reporting quarterly based on IFRS17&IFRS9 standards. During this year the Line Organization will take full ownership and lead in the runs and execution of the reporting process. The focus for the coming quarters is shifting towards operational readiness. In addition, other programs in our Finance Roadmap which leverage on ALFRED are getting up to speed and also require functional development going forward. This changed focus and increased complexity because of the different tracks, brings along new challenges for the testing team. For this reason the role of the Data Quality Engineer within our DevOps is currently needed in the team.

Your impact

In short, you will manage the complete testing cycles across all initiatives included in the ALFRED roadmaps. You will strengthen the testing framework internally while coordinating with different teams to ensure alignment. In the coming quarters you will play a key role in the quality of ALFRED for Production.

Your responsibilities

You will be part of the Run & QA Squad of ALFRED and work closely with the other squads of the ALFRED DevOps. Responsibilities include:

  • Create test plans together with the team for the initiatives across the ALFRED roadmap
  • Coordinate integration testing with the other DevOps and close alignment with the test task force team
  • Collaborate with software developers and project support team
  • Support the monitoring of the applications and software systems
  • Support the production operations based on the production calendar activities
  • Monitor the production environment and ensure production incidents are being picked up as soon as there arise
  • Carry out stress testing, performance testing, functional testing and scalability testing
  • Write and execute test scripts; support running manual and automated tests
  • Support test activities in different environments
  • Write test documentation, test reports and bug reports; design test cases to mitigate risks
  • Provide objective feedback to software development teams
  • Present findings to software development and business user teams
  • Communicate findings to technical and non-technical colleagues

Who you are

You have a professional background IT Testing preferable for the Finance/Risk domain (Solvency II or IFRS17 reporting) with minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. You have experience with IT change programs. You are proactive, curious and capable to independently take charge of your responsibilities.

You have excellent communication skills. You have experience to work Agile/Scrum. You have a helicopter view and able to analyse complex systems, define test cases and identify risks. You are experienced with SQL and Datawarehouse testing techniques.  

Strong plus:

  • Experience and knowledge of accounting standards such as IFRS 17 and/or Solvency II
  • Knowledge of metadata management, data modelling and data modeling tools
  • Experience in working with complex systems applications chain (building models to support the entire application chain)
  • Good understanding of the latest Data technologies (ADLS, Databricks, ADF, SPARK)
  • Exposure working in a Microsoft Azure Data Platform environment
  • Experience in Agile (Scrum) and DevOps way of working
