EY Data & Analytics Team
As a Senior Data Engineer in the Data Engineering, Data Science & AI (EY Data & Analytics) team, you will assist in transforming companies into smart organizations by unlocking the hidden value of data. All possible facets of data & analytics are involved: including data engineering, dashboarding, process mining, data science, machine learning, data strategy, data governance, master data management, data quality, as well as more advanced themes such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the internet or things (IoT).
As a consultant within EY Data & Analytics you will work in an international team with representatives from global nationalities. You will be broadly trained to help customers (national and international) by using data to solve the most difficult and urgent problems, respond to new opportunities and realize innovative products and services. The EY Data & Analytics team is part of EY Tech and is currently one of the most important pillars within EY. Globally, one in three employees works in Tech, and EY has more than 50,000 data professionals!
The challenge
We don't have to explain to you that data is a critical component of solving many business problems. For the execution of our projects, we are looking for a data engineer who makesdata available unambiguously and quickly, while maintaining high standards of data quality. You will aid our clients by providing high-quality data based on structured and unstructured sources using different tooling and techniques. Due to the ever-changing market, we also see a continuous shift in tools, techniques and languages. It is your challenge as a data engineer to find an answer to this in the world of DataOps, DevOps, microservices and distributed Cloud techniques.
You will work in a team on a project-basis with new and existing clients, the majority of which are spread throughout the Netherlands (with the occasional opportunity for work with clients elsewhere in Europe as well). With your specialist knowledge you will work closely with the EY team as well as the client to add concrete value!
What you bring
- Have experience with setting up data pipelines and data management processes (software-wise).
- You are a bridge builder between data, organization and data scientists.
- Experience with setting up and maintaining data links, batch and streaming pipelines (ETL/ELT).
- Experience with data modeling (setting up relational databases, NoSQL databases).
- Experience with version control tooling, Github, Azure DevOps.
- Experience with the Microsoft Azure stack (Data Factory, Synapse and/or Databricks, SQL databases, Data Lake storage and also preferably Azure Machine Learning, Event Hubs, Kubernetes.
- Have knowledge of the following (programming) languages. Python, R, SQL, PySark, C# and Scala.
- Front-end tools. PowerBI and Tabular Model.
Your required skillset
- A completed (technical) HBO or WO education.
- At least 3 years of work experience as a data engineer or in a similar position.
- Are aware of the latest trends and techniques in the field of data analytics.
- Passion for technology, data and progress.
- Ability to listen carefully to client demand and translate this into concrete results.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication (both spoken and written), presentation and advisory skills.
- Have an outspoken vision and specialist knowledge with which you are seen both internally and in the market as the expert in the field of data engineering.

Data Academy Week
In addition to an extensive range of formal training opportunities (you can even get your MBA!), the EY Data & Analytics team also offers a tailor-made training program: "Data Academy Week". This training program runs for a week at a time, 3 times a year. The format of the Academy Week training is that you will be divided into small teams (in accordance with Scrum methodology), and receive a business case from a customer in a specific analytics sector (Supply chain analytics, commercial analytics, consumer analytics, etc.) on the Monday morning. During the introduction to this business case, the client will describe their biggest data challenges to your team. You and your team work on this problem using the required technologies and skills to deliver a solution to the data challenge by the end of the week. Working hard, getting to know your colleagues, discovering new and exciting tools and technologies, but above all, having fun together is central to the objectives of this learning exercise.

Application procedure
The total interview process consists of 2 rounds. The 1st interview round is an introduction round, while the 2nd round consists of a Business case and presentation.
In addition, we have an (online) assessment and a pre-employment screening.
Due to the legal and regulatory requirements of EY (and in some cases its clients), high standards are set for the reliability and integrity of its employees. As a result, every new employee is screened. Depending on the job level, the pre-employment screening can consist of the following components: Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) or - if no VOG can be applied for in the Netherlands - a Criminal Background Check from your current country of residence or the country in which you have primarily resided in prior to your application.
